About the City of Fremont
Fremont is a city
of some 200,000 residents, located between Oakland and San Jose on the East Bay
in Northern California. With a history spanning over 200 years, Fremont is an
amalgam of five distinct communities - Niles, Irvington, Centerville, Mission San Jose, and Warm Springs.
In 1956 these
communities incorporated to become The
City Of Fremont, the third largest (in area) city in the state of
California.(Visit UC Berkeley's interesting article on
the history
of Fremont).
Served by the 880 and 680 interstate freeways, the Dunbarton Bridge to the
Peninsula, the BART mass-transit system to San Francisco and the San Jose to
Sacramento Amtrak railroad, Fremont offers a pleasant location in which to live,
but able commute into neighbouring commercial and industrial areas.
Fremont is a city of families, seniors and younger people alike, and has
something to offer all. It is a considered a safe community, in which one can
raise a family, and there are excellent schools to be found within its
borders.
To reflect this varied
demographic, the range of properties available to buy in Fremont is
extensive.
Single family homes dominate the area, from 2 bedroom starter homes in Irvington and 28 Palms through 3-4 bedroom properties
found in Glenmoor, Glenmanor and Parkmont to million-dollar luxury homes that
can be found in Niles and Mission San Jose.
Condos and town homes can be found in many areas, however, particularly in
commuter-friendly Warm Springs and Ardenwood.
We love Fremont so much, that many years ago we chose to live here. But don't
